CPU Usage
On active and standby, CAPS hosts use 1 to 1.5% of the CPU. Other CAPS hosts use less than 0.5%.
Disk Space Usage
- The binary image is approximately 10MB.
- 20 uncompressed log files – 10 MB
- Two uncompressed log files – 20 MB
- 2-3 temporary payload files each few MB. The size depends on the number of assets in the subnet.
Memory Usage
The following are the main functions contributing to CAPS memory usage:
- Number of assets present in the subnet.
- The fingerprint size.
- Number of impressions.
The standard size of a fingerprint is 4KB and a maximum of 20 impressions of the fingerprint are held in an asset, therefore:
- Memory usage for 1 asset is 80KB RAM.
- Memory usage for 250 assets is 20MB RAM. (Class C 24-bit subnet mask, i.e. 255.255.255.0)
- Memory usage for 1000 assets is 80MB RAM. (Class B 22-bit subnet mask, i.e. 255.255.252.0)
- Memory usage for 2000 assets is 160MB RAM. (Class B 21-bit subnet mask, i.e. 255.255.248.0)
- Memory usage for 4000 assets is 320MB RAM. (Class B 20-bit subnet mask, i.e. 255.255.240.0)
This is the amount of memory used by the CAPS leader and standby hosts. The other CAPS hosts monitor the activity but do not accumulate any data.
