Installation Prerequisites
To install cloud agents on your Gentoo Linux hosts, you have to download the Qualys Cloud Agent package and get the associated Activation ID and Customer ID. To get the Cloud Agent package, log in to the Qualys Cloud Platform, go to the Cloud Agent (CA) application, and follow the installation steps for Qualys Cloud Agent for Gentoo Linux (.tar.gz
) to get everything you need.
The Qualys Cloud Agent for Gentoo Linux is supported on the following architectures:
- Linux SystemD Gentoo - version 2.7 and later.
- Open RC Gentoo - version 2.14 later.
Host Asset Requirements
Cloud Agent host assets must fulfill the following requirements.
- Your agent hosts must be able to reach Qualys Cloud Platform (or the Qualys Private Cloud Platform) over HTTPS port 443. Login to the Qualys Cloud Platform and go to Help > About to see the URL your hosts need to access.
- You must have root privileges to install Qualys Cloud Agent on your Gentoo Linux host.
Prerequisites
To install Qualys Cloud Agent on Gentoo Linux, you need a host system with access to:
- .tar setup for Cloud Agent package extraction.
- Ebuild Command setup to build, install, and manage software packages.
- qlist command setup for administration and portage management on Gentoo Linux.
- emerge command setup is the command-line tool for package management in Gentoo Linux and its derivatives. It is used to install, remove, and update packages on the system.
