Cloud Agent Configuration

The Cloud Agent Configuration Tool gives you many options for configuring Cloud Agent after installation. It is available at /usr/local/qualys/cloud-agent/qualys-cloud-agent.sh.

The Cloud Agent configuration tool allows you to:

  • Provision agents
  • Configure logs: set a custom log level and log file path
  • Enable Sudo to run all data collection commands
  • Configure the daemon to run as a specific user and/or group
  • Change the ActivationID, CustomerID and/or platform configuration

The Cloud Agent automatically implements the changes made through the configuration tool, you do not have to restart the Cloud Agent or agent host to apply these changes.

When switching from a low-privileged user to a high-privileged user, it is not recommended to run the configuration tool directly on the already running agents. First, stop the agent and then run the configuration tool to switch to a high-privileged user.

Run Cloud Agent for User or Group

Typically, the agent installation requires root-level access to the system (for example, to access the RPM database). After the Cloud Agent is installed, it can be configured to run in a specific user and group context using our configuration tool. This ability limits the Cloud Agent's level of access.
