Manage Agent Version Control Profile

From the Quick Actions menu, you can View, Edit, Delete, or Download Affected Agents an agent version control profile.

Check the following important points while managing the Agent Version Control Profile:

  • You must have the necessary permissions to view, edit, create, or delete an AVC profile. To learn more about required permissions, refer to Permission Controls for Agent Version Control Profile.
  • If you create a tag-based profile, the Set this as a subscription level profile. checkbox is not enabled.
  • We recommend using static tags while creating tag-based AVC profiles. Using dynamic tags and system tags, such as Cloud Agent, may assign AVC profiles to a broader range of Cloud Agents that were not initially in the assignment scope.
  • If you select the auto-upgrade option in the configuration profile and delete the AVC profile for your assets, then the respective Agents are upgraded to the latest released binary version if no other profile is set to replace the existing AVC profile.
  • Ensure that you have assigned other AVC profiles before deleting the current AVC profile for your assets to prevent them from being auto-upgraded to the latest released Agent binary version.
  • A newly created/updated AVC profile takes some time for profile evaluation and implementing version control rules. We recommend you wait for 24 hours before enabling the auto-upgrade option in the respective configuration profile.

  • Sometimes tag-based profiles takes time for evaluation. Hence affected Cloud Agents may fall back to the next available profile and get upgraded to latest released binary version. To avoid this issue, we recommend creating the subscription level profile with lower binary version.
  • The AVC profiles are assigned based on their priority. If you create an AVC profile, and it has lower priority than the currently assigned profile, then your assets do not follow the version control rules configured in the newly created profile. You can manage the profile priority by reordering them. To learn more about reordering an AVC profile, refer to Reorder Agent Version Control Profiles.
