Release 2.6
November 26, 2024
What’s New?
Connector 2.6 introduces updates to Connector tags and FlexScan.
Introduced Support for Customizable Account-Level Tags for Member Connectors
With this release, you can now customize account-level tags for your AWS member connectors while maintaining the organization-level tag inheritance. The tag changes are applied to Asset and Connector tags. This enhancement enables granular tag management across cloud accounts within organizational structures.
To achieve this, navigate to the Connector app.
- Select any connector.
- On the quick actions menu, select Add Tags.
- Add the required tags.
- You can view the Connector Tags when you open the Connector Details screen.
- You can view the Asset Tags when you open the Tags and Activation screen.
Enhancements to Snapshot-based Scans
With this release, we have introduced Snapshot-based Scan v6 which brings significant improvements to cloud security scanning, bringing broader scope and enhanced user control.
Software Composition Analysis (SCA) Scan
The SCA scan enables deep introspection of machine environments by identifying installed software and dependencies. Discover and analyze software dependencies across your cloud instances with this new scanning capability.
You can configure detailed scanning parameters to optimize the resource analysis, including enabling SCA scans for specific target accounts, setting scan timeouts for cost management, and specifying include/exclude directories for precise dependency tracking.
To enable SCA Scanning for your Connectors-
- Navigate to the Connectors App.
- Create or Edit a connector.
- Enable SCA Scanning on the Tags and Activation step of your Connector configuration.
- Open your CFT-S Template via AWS.
- Enable SCA Scanning from the list of available parameters.
On-Demand Scanning
The On-Demand scan for Snapshot-based scans empower you to initiate a Snapshot-based scan at any point in time. You are no longer required to wait for the scan interval or decide on your favorable interval period. Scan intervals continue to exist and you can expect your auto-updates to work as always. But, with this addition, you have a more flexible option to run scans at any moment.
You can trigger scans exactly when needed through two distinct methods: account-wide scanning from the Connector module and instance-specific scanning from the TotalCloud module. Currently, you can simultaneously scan up to 50 instances.
