Creating Custom Fields

Create the custom fields needed for the tickets.

Ticketing Schemes include a list of the custom fields required for each ticketing scheme. Ensure you refer to this list when creating custom fields, following the steps below.

  1. Open your Jira Instance in the browser.
  2. Navigate to Space Settings > Workitems > Fields > Actions > Edit fields.
  3. Click FieIn the left sidebar, click Fields.
  4. Click Create Field, configure the field type and name, then click Create Field.
  5. Next, search for the Custom Field you have created.
  6. Click the three dots on the Custom Field and select Contexts and default value.

  7. Click Edit Context.
  8. Make the following selections:
    1. Choose applicable issue types: Select the applicable Issue type as per the ticketing scheme selection. This enables the custom field for these issue types. 

    2. Choose applicable context: Apply to the issues in selected projects.

       We recommend selecting 'Global Context' to avoid duplicating the custom field settings across projects.

  9. Click Modify.

 You do not need to create duplicate custom fields for different ticketing schemes. Instead, update the Projects section of the field to include the applicable ticketing schemes.
