Configure Data Transfer Definition 

In ServiceNow, a Data Transfer Definition (also referred to as a Scheduled Import) defines how and when data should be imported into the platform from an external source. Configuring this definition is a critical step when setting up a recurring data import process.

Perform the following steps to configure a data transfer definition:

1. In the application navigator, click Favorites or navigate to 
   Data Import > Scheduled Imports.
2. In the Scheduled Imports list, locate the schedule you created earlier and click its name to open it.
3. In the Data Transfer Definition form, update the Name field.
4. In the Run as field:
   • Click the search icon (magnifying glass).
   • In the Users window, select a domain-specific user.

     This user determines the domain context in which the import will execute.

5. In the Import Configuration field:
   • Click the search icon.
   • In the Import Configurations window, select the relevant import configuration you previously created.
6. Click Additional Actions (three-dot menu in the top-right), and click Insert and Stay to save the record without closing the form.
7. Select the Active checkbox to enable the schedule.
8. Right-click the form header and click Save.
