Appendix: Script-Based UDCs
The new script-based user-defined controls (UDCs) in Qualys PA lets you evaluate data on the basis of the results fetched by the script output per asset; thereby, enabling you to leverage the power of Policy Audit and CAR integration.
Script-based UDCs are custom controls that you create and associate with scripts that are already created and approved in Qualys Custom Assessment and Remediation (CAR). A script-based UDC contains the expected value for a particular control, while the script fetches the actual value found in the target assets. The two values are compared as a part of the policy evaluation and the result is generated as Pass, Fail, or Error.
You can create script-based UDCs for assets on Windows and Unix platforms.
Script name is updated in Policy Audit from the CAR application when the script User Defined Control (UDC) is first created. Also, if the script details are updated (including the name) the same is later synced with Policy Audit.
