PCI Compliance Release 1.6.8
February 02, 2026
With this release of PCI Compliance, we are introducing the following new features and enhancements.
License Enforcement for DNS Scans
We have introduced DNS license enforcement in PCI Compliance to align DNS scanning with Quantity License Unit (QLU) requirements and existing IP-based licensing behavior.
This enhancement impacts both new and existing PCI users.
Updates for DNS Management
PCI Compliance now enforces DNS license limits across DNS management and scan workflows.
- DNS assets cannot be added once the purchased DNS license limit is reached.
- Clear error messages guide merchants to contact Qualys Support when licenses are exhausted.
- DNS behavior is now consistent with the existing IP asset workflow.
Updates for DNS Scans
The following is the impact of license enforcement on scan launch and scan sharing:
- Scans targeting new DNS entries are validated against available DNS licenses.
- If no licenses are available, merchants are redirected to the Add DNS page and shown a clear license-related error.
- DNS scans shared from Qualys Vulnerability Management (VM) to PCI are accepted only when sufficient DNS licenses are available.
Updates for Admin Users
The license enforcement has the following impact on the Admin user while assigning DNS permissions to the merchant:
- DNS license count is now mandatory when enabling DNS scanning for a merchant.
- Enhanced validation prevents misconfiguration during merchant creation or updates.
