What's New in Network Passive Sensor

This topic gives you an overview of NPS releases. For more information, refer to the Network Passive Sensor Release Notes.

NPS Release 2.0

This release includes the following fix:

  • IPv6 Asset Discovery 
    Added support for detecting and identifying assets with IPv6 addresses in your network. Discovered assets appear in Global AssetView and CyberSecurity Asset Management.
  • Link-Local Address Discovery 
    Enhanced visibility into assets communicating with link-local addresses. Detection can be enabled from Sensor > General Settings > Report Link-Local Addresses.
  • Cloud Detection and Response (CDR) Appliance Registration 
    Introduced support for on-premises registration of CDR appliances as part of the TotalCloud Cloud Detection and Response feature.

  • Support to View External IP Addresses Communicated by VMDR OT Assets
    NPS backend now tracks external IPs that inventoried OT assets communicate with.

    NPS backend now extracts MAC addresses from industrial OCA files, in addition to asset names and IPs.

    Users can now purge multiple assets reported by NPS and CAPS in bulk from the CSAM UI, instead of deleting them one by one.

    Asset Purge Rules can now be applied to NPS and CAPS assets in CSAM, enabling automated deletion based on defined criteria.
  • Support for WSD Protocol
    NPS backend now supports the Web Services for Devices (WSD) protocol, allowing CAPS to extract and report additional asset attributes.
  • Support for Cloud Detection and Response (CDR) Appliance Registration
    NPS backend now supports registering appliances for live threat detection as part of the TotalCloud CDR feature.
