Create Custom Controls
Qualys SaaSDR lets you create custom controls directly from the Controls page. You can create a custom control by cloning an existing predefined control and modifying it to meet your requirements, such as changing its criticality or evaluation condition.

Custom controls are supported for all SaaS applications, including the Claude connector.

Custom controls appear alongside predefined controls in the control list and are clearly labeled, making them easy to distinguish.
Clone a Control to Create Custom Control
Follow these steps to create a custom control by cloning an existing predefined control:
- Go to Policy > Controls tab.
- Hover over the control you want to clone and click Clone Control from the Quick Actions.
- On the Clone Control page, modify the following details as needed:
- Name - Update the name of the custom control.
- Description - Update the description.
- SaaS - The SaaS application is inherited from the source control.
- Policies - Select the policies to assign the custom control to. You can also leave this empty and add it to a policy later.
To create a Custom Control, attaching a Policy is mandatory.
- Criticality - Select the criticality level (High, Medium, or Low).
- Entity Type - The entity type is inherited from the source control.
- Click Clone.
The newly created custom control is listed on the Controls page alongside predefined controls.
Once a custom control is created, reevaluate the respective policy to view its evaluation results on the Monitor page.
