Scanner Benefits and Configuration Options

Qualys Scanners support the following features:

• Syslog forwarding. For more details, see Qualys Scanner Appliance Features.
• Dual network Stack, IPv4+IPv6. Default scanner mode.
• IPv6-only
• IPv6 network configuration
• IPv6 Scanning
  • in dual stack network configuration
  • in IPv6-only network configuration
• Proxy configuration to connect to the Qualys Enterprise TruRisk™ Platform. This proxy configuration is not used for connecting to scan targets or vaults.
• Split network configuration, LAN+WAN. Not the most common use case.
  • A split network is used when there is a requirement to split the scan network traffic from Qualys platform communication traffic. 
  • Most common use cases are:
    • When the LAN (scan target network) does not have a direct connection to the internet to reach the Qualys platform, and there is no proxy in the LAN network that can connect to the Qualys platform.
    • Security requirements and company policies require internet traffic to be separated from the LAN traffic at the source.
  • WAN is disabled by default, and all network traffic goes through LAN. LAN can reach scan targets as well as the Internet.
