Launch a Test Authentication
You can launch a test authentication scan from the Web Applications tab.
Test Authentication
A test authentication scan verifies that the authentication record you select can successfully log in to the target web application.
A test authentication scan does not perform discovery or vulnerability checks.
The scan helps you confirm that your authentication record, including any Selenium script attached to it, logs in to the web application correctly. This lets you resolve authentication issues before they cause a scheduled scan to fail or return partial, incomplete results.
To launch a Test Authentication, select the web application that you want to test, click Actions menu, and select Test Authentication.

Perform the following steps:
- Add basic details. See Test Authentication - Basic Information.
- Configure scan settings. See Test Authentication - Scan Settings.
- Review the settings defined and launch the scan. See Test Authentication - Review and Confirm.
Permissions
User roles and permissions determine whether users have WAS scan permissions. Several permissions groups are available for the WAS, including 3 groups for WAS scans — WAS Scan Permissions, WAS Schedule Permissions, and Scanner Appliance Permissions. For details, Scan permissions.
