By launching a map on a domain in your account, the service tells you what your network looks like and gives you a mapping of your devices. Once a domain is added to your account you can add or change the IP address netblocks and approved hosts for the domain.
Go to VM/VMDR > Assets > Domains. Identify the domain you want to edit, select Info from the Quick Actions menu and then click Edit in the Domain Information window.
Netblocks consist of IPs and IP ranges included in a domain specification to expand the scope of the discovery process beyond the domain. Netblocks may be edited by Managers only.
Tell me about the Whois optionTell me about the Whois option
The Whois public server contains registration information for domain names and IP addresses. Tip: You can use the Whois lookup service to discover the netblock for a single IP address. To do so, enter the IP address in the Associated Netblocks field and click Whois. If available, the Whois page returns the complete netblock IP range. You can then enter the IP range into the Associated Netblocks field and add it to the account. (Note, If you copy the range directly from the Whois page, make sure to remove any extra spaces.)
Update your asset groupsUpdate your asset groups
If you increase the number of IPs in the netblock, all existing asset groups containing the domain in all user accounts must be updated to reflect the change. This includes asset groups that have been assigned to users and/or business units. Go to VM/VMDR > Assets > Asset Groups.
Update your scheduled mapsUpdate your scheduled maps
If you increase or decrease the number of IPs in the netblock, all existing scheduled maps containing the domain in all user accounts must be updated to reflect the change. If not updated, scheduled maps may be deactivated. Go to VM/VMDR > Scans > Schedules.
The Domains or Netblocks in the Launch Map are designed to take static domain input. VM/VMDR does not store the domain IDs. The static domain and IP information, which is provided at the time of creating the schedule map, is stored.
1) Create an asset group and add the created domain to that asset group.
2) Schedule map scan and select asset group as a target.
The scan is launched.
3) Edit the domain and add the required IPs.
4) Reschedule the new map scan.
Each domain may include one approved hosts list. When defined, approved hosts are identified in all map reports. Users can also run the Unknown Device Report to compare saved map results to the approved hosts list in order to identify rogue devices. Learn more
