You're Onboarded: What's Next

If you've worked through this guide in order, your platform access is established, your assets are tagged and scored by criticality, your sensors are deployed and checking in, and VMDR has produced its first prioritized remediation list. That's a working deployment, not a finished one, onboarding lays the foundation, and the next phase is maturing the program so it keeps delivering value as your environment changes.

Recommended next steps:

  • Schedule an onboarding review: Meet with your TAM or Customer Success Manager 30 to 60 days in to benchmark your deployment against best practices and close any gaps.
  • Expand module coverage deliberately: Bring PA, TotalCloud, WAS, or Container Security online one at a time now that VMDR is stable, rather than activating everything at once.
  • Automate what's still manual: Connect VMDR to your ITSM tool for ticket creation, wire up SIEM or webhook alerting, and move dynamic tagging rules from recommended to enforced.
  • Revisit tagging and criticality quarterly: Asset inventories drift and new systems appear with a default ACS, so your TruRisk scores are only as accurate as the tags and criticality values behind them.
  • Build role-specific dashboards: Give your SOC, administrators, and executives the view that matches their role instead of one generic dashboard for everyone.
  • Keep building skills: Move beyond the Onboarding learning path into module-specific courses, and consider QCS or QCE certification for your platform owners.
  • Stay current: Subscribe to the status page and release notes so you can plan deployments around new capabilities and maintenance windows.
