Asset Criticality Score (ACS)

Asset Criticality Score (ACS) is a user-defined score that represents the business importance of an asset. The score ranges from 1 (lowest criticality) to 5 (highest criticality), where a higher score indicates that the asset is more critical to your organization's operations (for example, a production database or a domain controller).

CSAM lets you organize assets using tags that represent business context, such as environment, location, application, or business unit. You can assign an Asset Criticality Score to these tags, and when the tags are associated with an asset, the system automatically determines the asset's criticality.

If an asset has multiple tags with different Asset Criticality Scores, the asset inherits the highest score assigned to any of its associated tags.

Example

An asset is associated with the following tags:

In this case, the asset is assigned an Asset Criticality Score of 5, which is the highest score among its associated tags.

Default Behavior: If none of the tags associated with an asset have an Asset Criticality Score assigned, the asset is automatically assigned the default score of 2.
