Authentication - Basic Information

On this page, add basic information for a new authentication record.

Name

Enter a name for the authentication record. You can enter a maximum 256 characters.

Tags

Apply tags to the authentication record. Users with one or more of the applied tags in their scopes will have access to the authentication record. Click Select tags or Take me to tag selector to view the list and select tags from the list. We show the applied tags information in the authentication record details.

Credentials Vault

Select a vault to provide the credentials used by this authentication record, instead of entering them in the record. An authentication record can use one vault.

After you select a vault, the variables defined in that vault are available on the credential fields of the record, such as passwords, tokens, and client secrets. Identifier fields, such as user names, are not provided by the vault and remain regular text fields.

When you select a vault variable for a field, a reference to the variable is stored in the record. The credential is read from the vault when the scan runs and is not displayed or stored in the record.

Using a vault is optional. Existing authentication records and records in which you enter the credentials directly continue to work as before. See Vaults.
