Assets Tags in CSAM

Asset tags help you to organize assets in your organization. You can tag assets manually or configure rules for automatic classification of your assets in logical, hierarchical, business-contextual groups. Assign Business Criticality through asset tags to establish priorities, and automatically calculate the asset criticality score of an asset based on the highest aggregated criticality. The most powerful use of asset tags is accomplished by creating a dynamic tag. Using a dynamic tag, the service automatically assigns tags to the assets based on search criteria in the dynamic tagging rule.

Refer to the topics below to learn more about asset tags:

Dynamic Tag Limits by Subscription

To ensure optimal performance and scalability, the maximum number of Dynamic Tags you can create depends on your subscription tier.

Subscription Tier Maximum Dynamic Tag
Enterprise 500
SME 200
SMB 50

What Happens as You Approach the Limit?

When the number of Dynamic Tags exceeds 90% of your subscription limit, you are notified to:

  • Delete Dynamic Tags that are no longer required.
  • Contact Qualys Support if you need additional capacity.

You can continue creating Dynamic Tags until you reach the maximum limit.

What Happens When the Limit Is Reached?

After you reach the maximum number of Dynamic Tags allowed for your subscription, you cannot create additional Dynamic Tags.

When you attempt to create a new Dynamic Tag:

  • A message indicates that the Dynamic Tag limit has been reached.
  • The message recommends deleting unnecessary Dynamic Tags or contacting Qualys Support.
  • The Create operation is blocked until your Dynamic Tag count is below the allowed limit or your subscription capacity is increased.

Existing Customers

If you are an existing customer and you have already exceeded the applicable Dynamic Tag limit, a warning message is displayed when you create a new Dynamic Tag. However, you can continue creating Dynamic Tags.
