Understand Data Onboarding

The data onboarding process connects security and business data to ETM so that the data can be used for risk analysis and prioritization.

The process typically includes the following activities:

  1. Connect data sources: Configure connectors for Qualys applications and supported third-party data sources.
  2. Onboard asset and vulnerability data: Use connectors to bring asset inventory and related findings, such as vulnerabilities and misconfigurations, into ETM.
  3. Add business context: Associate assets with relevant business information, tags, and Business Entities to establish their business significance.
  4. Process and correlate data: ETM normalizes and correlates data from different sources to create a unified view of assets and their security risk.
  5. View risk insights: ETM uses the processed data to calculate and display risk insights, TruRisk, and related risk information.

In the onboarding wizard, a superuser completes three steps: Company Profile, Business Entities, and Connectors. The other ETM tabs become available after the Connectors step is finished.
