Exception Initiation
Perform the following steps to initiate an exception:
- Go to VMDR Incidents or VMDR Incident Groups > Assigned to My Group (Open).
- Click an open incident.
- Select Exception - Identified from the Qualys State field.

In the vulnerability incident, scroll down to the Exception tab.

In the Exception tab, select Exception Business Risk and enter the reason for the exception in the Reason for an exception.

Click the Approval Configuration tab and select the approval group in the Infrastructure/ App Owner Approval Group.

Click Exception - Request Approval.
The State changes to Exception - Awaiting Approval.
The exception is submitted for approval. The approver group approves or rejects the exception. See Exception Approval.
After the exception is approved or rejected, go to the incident for which it was requested and click the VMDR Approvals tab.
You can view the approver and the state of exception approval.
You can also view the additional approvers after initial application infrastructure approval. The other approvers need to follow the exception approval workflow.
If the approver rejects the exception, it is reflected in the incident record | VMDR Approvals tab.
