Calculate Capacity for MAP Scans

Use the MAP scan type to estimate scanner capacity for Network Mapping scans.

To calculate capacity for MAP scans, perform the following steps:

  1. In the Scan Type section, select MAP.

  2. In Number of Scan Jobs, enter the total number of mapping jobs to run.

  3. In Concurrent Scans and Maps, enter the maximum number of scan jobs that run concurrently across all scanners.

  4. In the Desired Scan Duration section, enter the desired completion time in hours. (Optional)
    Scan Time Planner Settings.

    For example, enter 10 to complete the scan workload within a 10-hour maintenance window.

    To understand the scan time planner table, refer to the Scan Time Planner section.

  5. Enter the Scanner pool size to model your current scanner deployment. (Optional)

  6. Review the table to find the specifications and scanner count that meets your window.

Number of Scan Jobs

Total number of network mapping jobs to run. One MAP job is created per IP range or domain.

Concurrent Scans and Maps

The maximum number of scan jobs that run at the same time across all scanners.
