The operating system for the Virtual Scanner Appliance cannot be upgraded in place. Depending on your environment, you may need to replace the scanner image or deploy a new scanner using the latest image. For details on when a scanner replacement is necessary, refer to the Know when scanner replacement is needed section.

New Features

You can now deploy qVSA using UEFI-based boot mode across all supported platforms. GCP UEFI support was introduced in qVSA 4.1 and subsequently extended to other supported platforms.

Platform-Specific Limitation

SCAP scanning is not currently supported (applies to all platforms).

Alibaba

Secure Boot and vTPM are not yet supported.

Azure

• No support for Secure Boot or vTPM.
• No support for security type: Confidential VMs.
• No support for security feature: Integrity Monitoring.
• The qVSA image for Azure is Gen2-based; refer to https://aka.ms/azuregen2vm for supported VM sizes.

IBM

Secure Boot and vTPM are not yet supported.

KVM

Secure Boot and vTPM are not yet supported.

Proxmox

Secure Boot and vTPM are not yet supported.

Red Hat OpenShift

• Secure Boot is not yet supported.
• QEMU guest agent is not included in the qVSA-4.2.21 image.

XenServer

Secure Boot and vTPM are not yet supported.
