Jira Prerequisites

The requirements to fulfill from your Jira account configurations to start with the Jira Connector.

  • A valid Jira user with privileges to create, update, transition, link/unlink, and comment on tickets.

  • A Jira API token must be created using the same user mentioned above.
  • The Jira project where tickets are to be created must be of type 'Company Managed'.
  • Select the Default Screen scheme for projects where the tickets are to be created.
  • The Jira Connector supports setting mandatory fields. However, it is recommended not to set any of the fields in the Jira project as mandatory to avoid possible ticket creation failure. You can read about the optimal way to set mandatory fields by referring to Mandatory Fields in Ticketing Schemes.
  • The Jira Connector is supported for both On-Cloud and On-Premise using admin and non-admin user privileges.
  • Prior to v1.3.2, the Jira Connector On-Cloud ran with Automated flow but with Jira Connector 1.3.2 fully automated flow with admin users for Jira On-Cloud are no longer supported. You must create your custom issue types and custom fields to use the Jira Connector application.

  • Ensure you have a minimum supported Jira On-Premise version of v8.22.0#822000-sha1:cef2cc4 or above.
  • For WAS ticketing scheme, you should enable 'allow attachment' on the Jira instance. You should also enable the 'add attachment' permission.
  • Before you begin with the rest of the configurations, let's understand the types of tickets/issues the Jira connector creates in your instance.

Once you have these essential prerequisites set up, you must configure your issue types and custom fields to get started with the Jira Connector app. For more information, refer to the Additional Jira Requirements.

Recommended Jira workflow approach

It is recommended to keep a simple workflow for the Project in which Jira tickets are created, as ticket creation, updation, and closure are automated via Jira Connector and the respective services. Any workflow that prohibits state transition will prevent Jira Connector from properly updating the respective tickets.

Additional Jira Requirements

The Jira Connector supports setting mandatory fields of selective field types.
