Qualys Virtual Scanner Appliance in KVM Hypervisor

This document briefly describes how to deploy the Qualys Virtual Scanner Appliance in the KVM hypervisor. Once deployed, this scanner can function as a standard Virtual Scanner.

Prerequisites 

Before you begin, ensure the following prerequisites are met:

  • You need an active Qualys subscription.
    The Virtual Scanner option must be turned on for your account. If this option is not enabled, contact Qualys Support or your Technical Account Manager (TAM).
  • Your Qualys account must have a Manager or a sub-user role with the Manage virtual scanner appliances permission.
    This permission may be granted to Unit Managers. Your subscription may be configured to allow this permission to be granted to Scanners.
  • You need a scanner personalization code (14 digits) obtained from your Qualys account. 
  • You must ensure that the Qualys Virtual Scanner Appliance Virtual Machine can reach the Qualys Cloud Platform over HTTPS on port 443.

Supported Features 

The following features are supported on Qualys Scanner Appliance deployed in the standalone KVM Hypervisor platform:

  • WAN/Split Network Settings.
    The scanner user interface supports a WAN Interface option for configuring split network settings. In Split network mode, LAN interface is used for scanning and WAN interface is used for connecting to Qualys servers.
  • NATIVE VLAN
    VLAN on LAN option for configuring Native VLAN is supported 
  • STATIC VLAN (IPV4)
    VLANs option for configuring static VLANs is supported
  • STATIC ROUTES (IPV4 and IPV6)
    Option to configure 'Static Routes' is supported
  • IPV6 ON LAN
    Option to configure 'IPv6 on LAN' is supported
